Having been to Philadelphia many time over the past 45 years I decided to take the scenic route rather than the PA turnpike from Pittsburgh. It was an uneventful drive with almost to traffic until I got to the Harrisburg area where there was a little construction, but as they say - ti's the season. I'm not usually a sights of nature kind of person but there were definitely spots where I wish they a had touristy overlook spots to take pictures. The way home next Friday will be a different road less traveled depending on how plans fall into place with a different cousin.
Partially because of plans I tried to make with cousins for Saturday and because I am going to the Philies game that evening I stayed with my grandmother's cousin in Furlong which is outside Philadelphia. We hadn't seen each other in a few years so it was nice catching up with her. Talked a little genealogy and found a new book to add to my collection called Jews in the Netherlands: A Short History.
More tomorrow!
